Student Organizations and Affinity Groups
Grad Q is a new student organization that seeks to build community among LGBTQ grad students.
We are also interested in collaborating with undergraduate groups to support their events, and also in providing mentoring and networking opportunities to undergrads who want to learn more about grad school. AfroSpectrum is a student group for Black LGBTQ+ college students near Northeastern University.
AfroSpectrum is a affinity group that “strived to create a community that serves as a resource and safe space for Black, LGBTQ+ college students in Boston.” AfroSpectrum’s general body meetings are every other Sunday at 5pm EST. Out in STEM (oSTEM)
oSTEM is Northeastern University's chapter of oSTEM
oSTEM a national organization that supports LGBTQIA+ STEM students in leadership endeavors, professional skill development, and networking with other queer STEM students and professionals. NU Pride is an undergraduate student organization at Northeastern for the spectrum of sexual and gender orientations and expressions.
It is one of the school’s most visible and active student groups. Through its many activities, including hosting dinner discussion groups, sending students to regional events sponsored by organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign and the Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, and organizing educational programs about queer issues, the group provides support and resources for the entire community. Out in Business (OiB)
Out in Business (OiB) is an undergraduate student organization in the D'Amore McKim School of Business designed for students who identify as LGBTQ+ and our allies.
Our initiatives are to provide those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and our allies with a safe place within the business school, a supportive community, an opportunity to network with business professionals from the greater Boston area and their respective affinity groups, resources for experiential learning, and much more. The LGBTQA Resource Center sponsors a number of student affinity groups that are open to both undergraduate and graduate students. These are generally smaller, more informal groups that are not recognized as official groups by the SGA or GSG. For recognized student groups, please visit this page. TGNC is an affinity group and social group for any student who is transgender, non-binary, gender, non-conforming, Two Spirit, or questioning. The group is open to students who identify as transgender, gender nonconforming, genderqueer, agender, pangender, bigender, two-spirit, and other non-cisgender identities as well as those who might be questioning their gender identity. TGNC meets at 6-8pm on Fridays. Their instagram is @nutgnc.
ACE Space is a student-run affinity group that meets monthly to socialize and discuss ACE and Asexual Spectrum identities. This space is designed for those who claim ACE identities or are wanting to learn more.
