Whale Watching in the Boston Harbor

Want to witness some of the most magnificent creatures in our ocean? Take a trip with Boston Harbor Cruises and the New England Aquarium to go whale watching! Spend a few hours in the Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary on a peaceful catamaran and enjoy a day on the sea!

The Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary is home to a variety of different whales such as humpback whales, finback whales, minke whales, pilot whales, and the endangered right whale. Other creatures such as white-sided dolphins and even basking sharks have been spotted. Naturalists trained by experts at the New England Aquarium will be onboard to help identify the animals and answer any questions. Check out the Whale Watch Logs for updates on all the latest sightings!

Whale watching season is between March and October every year. Worried you won’t see any whales? Fear not! The New England Aquarium guarantees a whale sighting on every trip! If you don’t see any whales, you’ll get a free ticket for a future excursion.

Excursions are scheduled for three hour time slots, but can run longer depending on the location of the whales. It is recommended you arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled trip and reserve tickets in advance. Tickets can be purchased online here.
