NU Bucket List #68: Berry Picking

Summertime means berry time! What better way to spend a sunny day than heading to a berry farm to pick your own berries! The end of berry season is approaching, but there’s still time to head to some berry farms in the Boston area. Check out the list below for some great berry farms that are a short drive or T ride from Boston!

Meadow Mist Farm

For an organic and GMO free berry picking experience, Meadow Mist Farm is your place! Not only do they have blueberries and red raspberries currently in season; they also have apples and peaches which are about to come into season. The farm also sells fresh meat, poultry, eggs and other produce that are all totally GMO free and organic.

Distance from campus: 1 hr 32 minutes by T and bus ride

Wright-Locke Farm

Head to the historic Wright-Locke Farm to pick fresh raspberries and enjoy a variety of fresh foods at their market stands. Since 1638, the Wright-Locke farm had been passed down in the Wright and Locke families for generations. It is now run by the Wright-Locke Farm Conservancy, who have successfully revitalized the old farm, turning it into an organic community farm!

Directions: 1 hr 22 min by T and bus ride

Brooksby Farm

You can find juicy blueberries, raspberries, and peaches at Brooksby Farm this time of year! From 9am-5pm, pick fresh fruits, enjoy the company of farm animals, and shop around the farm store for more fresh produce. Return here in the fall for fresh apple picking!

Directions: ~ 45 minute drive

Cider Hill Farm

Fruit runs in the veins of the family run Cider Hill Farm that has been passed down for generations. Pick your own fresh blueberries and peaches for prices that are cheaper than buying from a store! When you’re done picking, head to their farm store for yummy baked goods, produce, and fresh honey!
