NU Bucket List #82: Tree Lighting

With Thanksgiving over, the holiday season has begun! All around Boston you can enjoy holiday festivals, markets, and of course, tree lightings. Read on to learn about some of the awesome free tree lighting ceremonies happening in Boston this year!

Commonwealth Avenue Mall Lighting – Thursday, November 30th

Head to the Comm Ave Mall to see the trees lining this 32 acre stretch of land light up for the holiday season at 8pm! After that, you can warm up with some delicious hot chocolate and desserts provided by the Taj Hotel.  

Boston Common Tree Lighting – Thursday, November 30th

The Boston Common Tree Lighting will kick off with an incredible figure skating show on the Frog Pond hosted by Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton at 5pm! After this, Mayor Walsh will light the tree gifted to Boston by Nova Scotia with Stephen McNeil, Premier of Nova Scotia. The night will be topped off by an incredible fireworks show!

The North End – Friday, December 1st

Enjoy celebrity Christmas Carolers from Mix 104.1 perform as the tree is lit at 6pm at the Corner of Cross Street and Hanover Street in the North End! You can also enjoy the North End’s Holiday Stroll with some amazing boutiques, galleries, and restaurants  selling holiday snacks and goods until 11pm.
