Spring break is next week! Are you going to be sticking around on campus? There’s still plenty to do and see right outside of the Boston area! Read on to learn about some fun day trips you can take with some friends throughout spring break!

Providence, Rhode Island

Transportation: Commuter Rail from Ruggles Station

Things to Do: Want to get out of Massachusetts for the day? Head down to Providence Rhode Island for the day! For only $15, you can check out the 40 acre property of the Roger Williams Park Zoo and Botanical Center. Once you’re done enjoying the sight of some incredible plants and animals, you can immerse yourself in the history of Rhode Island! Tour one of the oldest colleges in the country, Brown University, or stroll down Benefit Street to appreciate the best of 18th century architecture for free!

Salem, Massachusetts

Transportation: Commuter Rail from North Station

Things to Do: Though its not Halloween time, Salem still has a lot to offer to visitors! You can still enjoy Salem’s witchy history regardless of the time of year by checking out the Salem Witch Museum and the House of the Seven Gables. For some fun in the great outdoors and away from all things spooky, head to the Salem Willows public park for great views, an arcade, and a beautiful seaside promenade.

Rockport, Massachusetts

Transportation: Commuter Rail from North Station

Things to Do: Rockport is a must see for art lovers! Its iconic art colony is one of the oldest in America, featuring over thirty galleries and The Rockport Art Association and Museum. For a one of a kind shopping experience, check out Bearskin Neck to find handcrafted jewelry, unique clothes, and locally made crafts. You can also explore Halibut Point State Park for some gorgeous Massachusetts scenery!
