NU Bucket List #94: Afterhours

If you’re ever looking for some fun on campus, Afterhours is the place to be! During the daytime the space is perfect for studying and enjoying some Starbucks. But at night you can enjoy a variety of fun, and almost always free, events and activities! Read on to find out more about all the great things that Afterhours has to offer right in the Curry Student Center!

Afterhours is probably best known for its concerts. Almost every week of the year, you can find at least one concert going on at Afterhours!  In the past, Afterhours has welcomed musical guests like All Time Low, Car Seat Headrest, and GZA of the Wu Tang Clan to its stage. Want to get on stage yourself? Various student organizations frequently host open mic nights at Afterhours! Be on the lookout on Afterhours’ social media to find out how to sign up for their next open mic!

You can also get the chance to get on the Afterhours stage in their student concert series! But Afterhours has other performances to offer other than just concerts. Other events that regularly happen in Afterhours include comedy shows, plays, and musicals! Improv groups that frequent Afterhours include Northeastern’s own No Jokes and NU and Improv’d. You can find NU Stage’s semesterly cabarets, the 8 to 8 24 hour play festival, and Acting Out’s play performances all at Afterhours!

Didn’t get to catch a movie in theaters but can’t find it on Netflix? Let Afterhours be your movie theater! Recently, movies like Lady Bird, Selma, and Wonder Woman have all been screened at Afterhours entirely for free! Want to watch your favorite awards show but can’t get it to stream? Afterhours has been home to watch parties for the Grammys and the Oscars this past year!

Every week, we post one more thing you MUST do before you graduate Northeastern. Tag us in/tweet us a picture of you doing our thing of the week, and you could get featured on our twitter or instagram, or win some pretty awesome prizes (including your favorite Husky swag)! #NUbucketlist
