NU Bucket List #98: Charles River Boat Tours

Explore Boston from a new angle – on a boat in the Charles River! With summer on its way, boat tours are finally returning to the Charles with The Charles Riverboat Company. The company offers three different types of tours that all depart from Cambridge and run from May until October. Read on to find out all the different tours you can enjoy while cruising along Boston’s beautiful river!

The Charles River Sightseeing Tour is a 70 minute cruise down the Charles with a knowledgeable guide telling you all about the history of Boston and its many landmarks! Sights on the cruise include the Esplanade, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, MIT, and more! There are a variety of departure times throughout the morning and early afternoon every day of the week. Tickets are $17 for students!

Enjoy the only architectural boat tour of Boston on the Architecture Cruise! Cruise around Boston Harbor, the Charles River Locks, and the Charles River basin with narration from an expert guide! During this 90 minute tour, you can see the Hancock tower, Marriott’s Custom House, the Prudential Building, and more! Tours depart at 2:30 daily and at 11:30am on Saturday and Sunday. Student tickets are $24.50.

Spend the evening enjoying the beauty of the sunset on the Sunset and Twilight Cruise! This 70 minute tour offers you spectacular views of the Boston and Cambridge waterfront as the sun goes down. Cruises depart daily at 5:30 and 7pm until the end of September. Tickets are $17 for students!
